I’m so excited to show you around my new online home. It’s been a while coming.
The last year has been amazing. I’ve had the privilege of working with women with whom I’ve developed wonderful friendships. I’ve also had the opportunity to dust off my teaching hat and support the students of Amanda Aiken’s Girls Guide to Web Design. Working with two other incredible women (Stephanie and Katy) made it so awesome — thanks girls! I’ve learned a ton and a great time doing it.
For the past couple of years I’ve been immersed with the women who I create websites for and the golden thread that ties us together — entrepreneurship.
As a web designer, I’ve not had the inspiration nor the time to really develop and take my own brand to the place I want it to be. I’ve not been showing you the true work that I’m really feeling called to do. You see, I kept telling myself that someone else had to come first. That I needed to just get ‘this’ done then I could dedicate time to re-designing my own space (whatever ‘this’ was!). I told myself I could spend time dreaming this up when I went on vacation. Yes, I bet you can guess: that didn’t happen. I did was what I supposed to do on vacation: rested, read, spent time with my family, and re-charged my creative juices.
I decided I needed to take a stand.
I believe your web presence is like a favorite hoodie. When you first built it, it was comfortable, new, and perfect. It highlighted your strengths and just felt good. After a couple of years, natural wear and tear gives way to style changes. That once perfect hoodie isn’t cool to wear out in public anymore. It’s maybe a bit frayed around the edges and still comfortable, but it’s what you save for wearing in the dark, around a campfire. Not for meeting new clients. And who wants a website that just doesn’t make you feel amazing? One that you can’t wait to show off because you know it looks good on you?
After working with so many women to activate their web essence, I decided it was time to activate my own. I began by playing my favorite Songza playlist, Tropical Ocean Waves. I was inspired by my current clients. Then, I dug deep.
I’ve stepped into my own courage and am proud to show you my new online home :)
And with it, comes a brand a new e-book, “The Five Hottest Trends in Web Design.” I’ve spent a lot of time over the past few months pouring over web strategy. I’ve combined my discoveries in building a website that’s cohesive in design to offer you my point of view on what’s important for you to consider when starting your own re-design. You can grab a copy of it by signing up right here!
I’ve also created a new community on Facebook that I would love you to be a part of.
The details are in the link to my new e-book above. My intention is to create a forum where, as women entrepreneurs, you can find inspiration, solutions, ideas, and suggestions (all for free!) while you navigate the path of technology. I’m really looking forward to connecting with you there.
Thanks for stopping by and I’d love to hear your thoughts on my new online home in the comments!
