How to Use Your iPhone as a Microphone

If you record videos on your iPhone but don’t have an external microphone, you may be surprised by how much you can do with the audio tools already built into your phone.

In this video, I’ll show you how to make iPhone audio sound better without a microphone by changing one camera setting before you record and then adjusting the audio afterward.

This is especially useful if you’re creating Reels, social media videos, tutorials, or other talking-to-camera videos and want cleaner, more polished sound without buying more equipment.

Use your iPhone’s built-in audio tools after you record

Your iPhone gives you options for how sound is recorded and, on supported recordings, how that audio sounds after the video has been captured.

The trick is knowing which setting to turn on first. In the video, I show you where to find Record Sound in your iPhone Camera settings and how to switch it to Spatial Audio. Then, after recording your video, you can open the clip, choose Audio Mix, and change the sound from Standard to Studio.

That means you can improve the sound of a video using your iPhone itself, without needing to connect a separate microphone.

Watch the video for the exact taps and menu options so you can set it up on your own phone and try the difference for yourself.
