How to Upload Custom Fonts to Edits

Want to use your own font inside the Instagram Edits app instead of sticking with the fonts already there?

You can upload custom fonts to Instagram Edits directly from the Files app. If you’ve purchased or downloaded a font, the process involves downloading the font file, finding it in your Downloads folder, and then importing it into Edits.

It may sound a little complicated if you’ve never dealt with font files before, especially when you open the folder and suddenly see file types like OTF and TTF. The good news is that Edits can work with either format, so you don’t need to know much about font files to get started.

How do you add custom fonts to Instagram Edits?

In this video, I’ll show you exactly how to add custom fonts to Instagram Edits, starting with downloading your font and finding it in the Files app.

You’ll also see where the custom font option is hiding inside Edits, how to import your font from Files, and how to apply it to text that’s already in your project.

This is a helpful tutorial if you’ve downloaded a font before but weren’t sure how to actually get it into Edits. You don’t need to understand the difference between an OTF and TTF file, and you don’t need any extra software to complete the steps shown in the video.

Watch the video below and follow along on your phone. Once your font has been imported, it will appear inside Edits so you can select it when working with text in your project.
