Have you ever taken a photo you really like, except for one distracting thing in the background or foreground that you wish would disappear?
Instagram now has an AI-powered tool inside Stories that can remove unwanted objects or people from a photo. So if there’s a car, person, or other distraction taking attention away from the part of the photo you actually want people to see, you may be able to clean it up right inside Instagram.
If you’re wondering how to remove objects from photos in Instagram Stories, this short video shows you where the feature is hiding and how to use it.
How Instagram’s AI Remove Tool Works
The new Remove option is found inside Instagram’s Restyle feature when you’re creating a Story. You choose a photo from your camera roll, tell Instagram what you want removed, and its AI edits the image for you.
There are a couple of things worth knowing before you go hunting for it. The feature works with photos, not videos. And if you don’t see the Restyle option yet, you may need to update your Instagram app.
In the video, I walk you through exactly where to tap and show the tool working on a real photo. I remove an unwanted object from the foreground so you can see what the result actually looks like.
Watch the video below to see how to find Instagram’s AI Remove tool and try it on one of your own Story photos.
