Have you every noticed that when you genuinely share a personal story that people connect to you on a deeper level? One look on social media and you’ll see it in real time. I’d be willing to bet you’ve seen it in person too. You’ve talked to someone who’s shared something so real, you’ve become engrossed in the experience if the story.
Audiences crave that same connection. It’s how we build trust.
When you show up for real whether it be online or in person, I’d be willing to bet you want to feel that connection too. It feels good. Amazing even. It could be in the engagement you have on a social media post or a blog post. It could a juicy conversation you have in person with a potential client or customer. It could be something else entirely!
The thing is, we often get tripped up overthinking what to share. We prioritize and strategize in our heads. Before long the words come out and they end up feeling over rehearsed and don’t make the impact we want.
In the longing to make our words count, we have a tendency to overthink ourselves into a POV (point of view) that does not land with our audience.
Today I’m sharing one of the tools I use to help my clients connect to their own audience. It’s a free printable worksheet that walks you through a series of questions that help you get to the core of the conversation you may not even know you want to have with your audience. You can use it to help develop content for social media or in person networking opportunities.
HOW TO USE THE SHEET?
Set your intention. Decide what the purpose is for creating these new point of view statements. (Is it to create connection? Establish yourself as an expert? Build trust? Educate? Inspire? Help distill your own voice? etc.)
Identify the opportunity. Where do you want to share this content? Where could you share this content? (website, FB page, FB communities, LinkedIn, Instagram, other social sharing sites, networking opportunities, free consult calls etc.)
IN THE COMMENTS, I’D LOVE TO KNOW HOW THIS WORKSHEET HELPED YOU CLAIM YOUR OWN VOICE.
